PRK vision correction in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, PRK corrects vision by reshaping the cornea using an Excimer laser which focuses light onto the retina to sculpt the stromal layer of the cornea and correct refractions. The primary difference between PRK and LASIK is that there is no flap created to access the cornea – the entire outer epithelial layer is removed to expose the area to the laser.
PRK vision correction is often the safest option for those who have thin corneas, high prescriptions, or topographic abnormalities due to the lack of a requirement to cut and create a flap.
Immediately following the PRK procedure patients should plan a rest period of 3-4 hours with the eyes completely closed. Some patients may experience minor sensitivity after surgery, but this discomfort is usually mild and only lasts for a short period of time. With proper care, regular administration of prescribed eye drops, and routine follow-up appointments, patients should recover quickly and enjoy sharp, clear vision in a short period of time.
